Following today’s compulsory acquisitions document leak, Greens NSW MP and Roads & Transport spokesperson Dr Mehreen Faruqi has said that the NSW government must fully release the review of compulsory acquisition laws which has been kept secret for years, and tell the people of NSW what exact recommendations will be acted upon.
Dr Faruqi said:
“Governmental concerns about project delays should not mean that NSW landowners are taken for granted or left hanging out to dry.
“The review handed to the government must now be released, and the Premier ought to come clean with the public about which recommendations will or will not be supported, and why.
“This might come as a surprise to the Premier, but people’s right to a fair process is much more important than bulldozing to make way for his pet projects as quickly as possible.
“With the Baird government, it’s their way – the highway,” she said.
